Even if it’s no good, it’s still ours. That’s what makes it ours—being born on it, working it, dying on it. That makes ownership, not a paper with numbers on it." --John Steinbeck, Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 5

POP QUIZ!!!
What is that on the floor?

ANSWER:
A bag of chips from the MSCD store.

This was a potential issue that was brought up two postings ago. This was not the only bag of chips tossed in the hallway from MSCD store, they were also spotted in classrooms.

How should we resolve this before it becomes a bigger problem? Should we sell snacks at specific times? Should there be business hours? If so, what would they be.

As John Steinbeck wrote so eloquently in Chapter 5 of The Grapes of Wrath, "...That’s what makes it ours—being born on it, working it, dying on it. That makes ownership..."

We have been focusing heavily on Math  with lessons on reading a receipt, analyzing the different components of a receipt, and how to profit from sales. However, your homework assignment will shift back to English Language Arts/Literacy by examining the knowledge in the disciplines (Shift 2).

Homework: Select 1 of 3 options.

Option 1: Create a list of 5 words describing ownership.

Option 2: In five complete sentences, analyze John Steinbeck's quote and how does it relate to your behavior at MCSD.

Option 3: In five complete sentences, analyze John Steinbeck's quote and how does it relate to your behavior at MCSD. Also, include how others might or might not effect your ownership position at MSCD.
